Announcing RJABC's guest speaker at our upcoming Annual General Meeting on Monday, November 29 from 6-8 pm - Myrna McCallum! Myrna is a Métis lawyer from Green Lake in Treaty Six territory and the host of "The Trauma-Informed Lawyer" Podcast. Prior to founding Miyo Pimatisiwin Legal Services in 2019, Myrna served as an adjudicator in the Indian Residential Schools Settlement Agreement claims process, and Crown Prosecutor with the Ministry of the Attorney General in Saskatchewan.

A paper by Lynn S. Branham that was published in the Denver Law Review Forum titled “The Overlooked Victim Right: According to Victim-Survivors a Right of Access to Restorative Justice” outlines the same findings that the Federal Ombudsman for Victims of Crime has noticed: knowledge and access to restorative justice is not as widespread as it should be.

This year, as we continue to stay safe, we encourage you to, once again, join us virtually in celebrating National Restorative Justice Week, from November 21 to 28, 2021. Many seeds were planted in 2020 as we gathered virtually, for the first time, at the National RJ Symposium (NRJS), and this year we will watch those seeds grow. What unique expressions of restorative practices have taken hold over the last year?
