MEMBER CODE OF CONDUCT

Organization: Restorative Justice Association of BC (RJABC)
Policy Status: Binding for all active Individual and Organizational Members
Scope: Access to the RJABC Members-Only Resource Portal

1. Purpose

The RJABC Members-Only Portal is a secure repository of professional restorative justice resources, training videos, and materials. This Code of Conduct ensures the integrity of these materials and establishes the responsibilities of members regarding access and intellectual property.

2. Confidentiality and Organizational Access

2.1 Individual Membership: Access credentials issued to individual members are strictly non-transferable and may not be shared with any third party.

2.2 Organizational Membership and Designated Users: Where membership is held by an organization (the “Member Organization”), access is granted to the organization as a single legal entity. The Member Organization shall provide the names of two (2) primary administrators (“Designated Users”) who shall serve as the registered custodians of the account credentials.

2.3 Internal Distribution and Responsibility: RJABC acknowledges that a Member Organization may share portal access internally among its employees or bona fide volunteers for the purpose of organizational training, subject to the following:

Accountability: The Member Organization assumes full legal and professional responsibility for the conduct of any individual accessing the portal via their assigned credentials.

Intra-Organizational Use Only: Access must be restricted to individuals currently employed by or formally volunteering for the Member Organization. Sharing credentials with external partners, contractors, or unaffiliated third parties is strictly prohibited.

Credential Security: The Member Organization must implement reasonable internal controls to ensure credentials are not disclosed outside the organization.

2.4 Departure of Personnel: The Member Organization must notify the RJABC Administrator immediately upon the departure or change of a Designated User to ensure credentials can be updated and security maintained.

3. Protection of Intellectual Property

All videos, documents, and toolkits hosted within the portal are the proprietary intellectual property of RJABC or its content partners and are protected under the Copyright Act of Canada.

Prohibition of Duplication: Members are strictly prohibited from recording, downloading, screen-capturing, or otherwise duplicating video content.

Prohibition of Redistribution: Resources provided for download are for the member’s (or Member Organization’s) professional use only. You may not sell, host on other platforms, or publicly distribute these materials.

Authorized Use: Use of resources for public presentation or community circles requires express written authorization from the RJABC Board of Directors unless the resource is explicitly labeled for public use.

4. Professional Responsibility

Members agree to use these resources in a manner consistent with the ethical standards of restorative justice. Accessing these materials does not constitute an endorsement or certification by RJABC for specific case work unless the training material specifically grants such a designation upon completion.

5. Enforcement

RJABC reserves the right to monitor portal traffic for security purposes. Evidence of unauthorized access or confirmed violations of Intellectual Property protections will result in the immediate suspension of portal access and may lead to the permanent revocation of membership standing for the individual or the Organization.
